Located near Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes on the eastern side of the Saint-Émilion appellation, Château Laroque is one of the largest estates in the area, with around 61 hectares of vineyard planted on a limestone plateau with clay layers. The property has a long history dating back several centuries and has been owned by the Beaumartin family since 1935. The estate was classified Grand Cru Classé in 1996, and recent work under director David Suire has focused on highlighting the character of its limestone terroir.
Tasting notes 2022: Expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, cassis and plum mingle with floral hints and subtle mineral notes. The palate shows concentration balanced by freshness, with smooth tannins and a clear limestone-driven structure. The finish is persistent and refined, suggesting good ageing potential.
Serving Suggestions: Pairs beautifully with a grilled rib-eye steak with shallots, slow-roasted lamb shank, or wild mushroom risotto.
