2022: a roller coaster year and the prospect of an exceptional vintage! A dry autumn and a very cold but short winter characterized the conditions leading up to the start of the growth cycle. After contrasting temperatures in April, the vintage’s sunny character emerged in May, leading to early, rapid and very uniform flowering (first flowers on 18 May). From mid-June onwards, a water deficit began to develop, thanks to the particularly hot, dry days. The hailstorm on 20 June compromised a small part of the 2022 harvest, but did more good than harm in terms of quality, since it brought with it some welcome rain. This was followed by a drought that lasted until the second half of August, after the third heatwave. At the beginning of September, with the exception of some of the very young plants, the vines were in superb condition. Once again, Château Meyney’s exceptional terroir with its water-retaining clay soil fulfilled its role. Accompanied by perfect weather, the harvests were unhurried and joyful.

Tasting Notes:

Intense profile of ripe black fruits, including blackberry and bilberry, with redcurrant, violet petals, graphite, and cedar. On the palate, it is ripe and juicy, offering a medium-to-full-bodied experience with refined yet firm tannins and a savory, mineral-driven finish.

Pairs perfectly with red meats, such as roasted game, lamb, or Côte de Boeuf, as well as truffle based dishes.
